Work Integrated Learning

“work integrated learning is an umbrella term used to describe a wide variety of mechanisms through which practical experience is used to complement the teaching of theoretical concepts” (Australian Workforce and Productivity Agency, 2014, p.7).

In summary:

  • Work Integrated Learning is authentic
  • Your Work Integrated Learning project features work related issues while also drawing from course related learning
  • Your Work Integrated Learning project is evaluated and assessed by a combination of people including: you, your peers, industry mentors/critical friends, as well as your lecturers
  • Artefacts produced as result of a Work Integrated Learning project typically have relevance beyond the university.

Bits of courses where there is direct work component. Integral to the learning outcomes of the course and part of assessment.
